Partial Total Solar Eclipse

YASSSS. This morning when I woke up, my dad told me that there will be a solar eclipse at 7.45am. But it is only a partial solar eclipse, not a total solar eclipse. I live in KL and according to the national planetarium official website, the eclipse will be at its peak at 8.23am. Luckily for Indonesia, they will be experiencing a TOTAL solar eclipse. Lucky them. Malaysia never got its chance to witness a total solar eclipse......I THINK. If we did, please tell me when so that I can dig out the photos online and stare at them for hours. I was already prepared since 7.40am because I WAS TOO EXCITED. This is my first eclipse sighting even though it wasn't that obvious at all. ( Look at the pictures and you'll know why. )

Before you scroll down and look at those pictures, please be reminded that I did not used a high quality camera like Canon or Nikon. I didn't use a DSLR. Just my phone's camera (Xiaomi Mi4i). So the pictures might not seem professional but whatever. =.= ( I'm eyeing on one of those Canon's camera. THEY ARE SO NICEEE. I'm gonna get one after I start working.) And because I suck at setting the camera, everything was auto. I'm gonna practice more later on.

I did not wear any special eclipse specs, since I knew about it last minute and there wasn't really anywhere to buy those special specs. I just wore sunglasses haha. I hoped that my retinas will be safe. And I also hope that my phone's camera lens won't be damaged.

7.37 am

I was in the car.

7.57 am

zoom in... Err.. the flat part on the sun in the above pic at 7.45 am aint the moon haha

At first I thought that the camera couldn't take any picture of the eclipse because the sun was REALLY REALLY bright at that time. But then when I look closer at the light blue image formed at the middle left side, I realized that it is the reflection of the Sun. ( Before that, I didn't realize it until I saw a similar post on Instagram. It shows a picture of a sun like mine did and that person captioned it internal reflection of the Sun. I googled and it turns out to be true.)

The image, as you can see, shows that the eclipse is already in its second phase. ( According to the info given by the National Planetarium of Malaysia )

8.05 am

8.06 am

It's dark because of the focus, not the eclipse.

8.26 am

At this time, the eclipse is at its peak, forming a gibbous shape Sun. Was 3 minutes late but mehh.

8.27 am

8.32 am

From KL to you.

Well....I did not take any pictures after this because it was painful to the eyes due to the Sun's strong light. However, I'm glad that I've took pictures of the climax. That's what I intended to do anyway.

Below is the eclipse sequence posted by the Planetarium ;

And according to them, the next solar eclipse will be on 26th of December 2019. That's three more years to wait.
